Serta icomfort

Today, many people prefer a memory foam mattress for its pressure-relieving comfort, ability to conform and adapt to each person’s body, and outstanding motion isolation. Even so, traditional memory foam technology hasn’t changed much since it was invented more than 40 years ago. While it can provide great comfort to many, others find that memory foam mattresses can sleep too hot, sink in too deeply or make it hard to adjust sleep positions in the night. Isn’t it about time that someone reinvented memory foam?

Introducing the new iComfort Sleep System by Serta, featuring our Cool Action™ Gel Memory Foam – the world’s first memory foam infused with the support and cooling touch of Serta’s MicroSupport™ gel. This revolutionary new memory foam is designed to deliver superior pressure relief and more targeted support while sleeping cooler than ordinary memory foam. Plus, it is antimicrobial and dust mite resistant to help protect your mattress from potential allergens.

For over 10 years, today’s conventional mattresses – pillowtop, eurotop, etc. – have been made the same. They can talk about this spring or that material – but the reality is they are all made the same way.

All except Aireloom. ONLY Aireloom and E. S. Kluft have actually achieved a truly better way to build a mattress. With an awarded U. S. patent for mattress design, E. S. Kluft (and Aireloom) is the only manufacturer to achieve this new standard in mattress design. IT TOTALLY CHANGES THE WAY A LUXURY MATTRESS IS CRAFTED! The result is: the mattress is allowed to function properly ( adapt and react as needed ) AND the body is allowed to RELAX . Thus, a restful, healthier sleep.

We spend 1/3 of our lives on a mattress. So, HOW we spend it becomes incredibly important. The Aireloom mattress is the best because of:

  1. THE UNIQUE DESIGN PROCESS – each mattress is thoughtfully and carefully created by Earl Kluft and his design team. Each bed is checked for comfort, support, pressure relief, and durability.
  2. THE FINEST RAW MATERIALS – certifications provide a hallmark which assures consumers that a product adheres to strict requirements for quality and safety.
  3. EXPERIENCED ARTISANS AND CRAFTSMEN – averaging 15 years of professional experience.
  4. AIRELOOM 40 YEAR HISTORY – has defined the “handcrafted luxury mattress.” Always known for its quality, Aireloom was and is a favorite of the rich and famous – from Presidents to Movie Stars.
  5. ATTENTION TO DETAIL – fine tailoring enhances the beauty and functionality of each mattress.
  6. PATENTED, SUPERIOR DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY – has created a more STABILIZEDmattress and foundation. Meaning a healthier sleep. See info on Aireloom patent.
  7. A BETTER WAY TO BUILD A MATTRESS The result is: the mattress is allowed to function properly (adapt and react as needed) AND the body is allowed to RELAX. Thus, a restful, healthier sleep.

Since we each spend an average of 3,000 hours a year in bed… the question should be… how do we want to spend these important hours?

Sleep is directly related to how you feel during your waking hours. A good night’s sleep helps the body recuperate and all stages of the sleep cycle are necessary in order for you to wake up alert and rested. Deep sleep revitalises the body and REM clears the brain. In addition, your bed should be pressure relieving and free from blood circulation interference. That makes your bed incredibly important. Our skilled craftsmen know this. They do a careful job with mindful check-ups after every stage of our hand assembly. Every component in our beds is made from material of the highest quality: the frames in fine Swedish pine from sustainable forests, the bed itself with heat treated pocket springs and the top mattresses with New Zealand wool and cotton. Everything is carefully chosen to meet Carpe Diem’s high standards and give you great days.

An Organic Sleep Environment

The what and why of health

Have you been considering organic sleep products, but aren’t sure how they will contribute to a healthier you? You aren’t alone. The distinction between ‘natural’, ‘green’ and ‘organic’ products is not always clear to the naked eye. So pull up a chair and grab a cup o’joe – it’s time to talk about ‘certified organic’.

What does “Certified Organic” really mean

In 2002 the USDA established strict standards and practices to ensure that when consumers see the term ‘certified organic’ they know what that means. Different levels of organic purity are indicated by different labels. A “100% Organic” label indicates that a product is created with 100% certified organic components while a “Made with Organic” label ensures that at least 70% of the components are certified organic. The basics of organic certification remain the same for all levels of purity:

From farmer to product processing, any certified organic component undergoes regular certification inspections to ensure correct practices. In the US this inspection is annual.
Detailed records must be kept to confirm that the products remain untainted.
No man made pesticides, artificial fertilizers, or harmful chemicals have been used on the farm for at least 3 years prior to certification.
Ecologically friendly methods and materials must be used in all aspects of cultivating, harvesting and processing certified organic products.

Why organic sleep is healthier sleep

The simple fact is that we spend as much as 1/3 of our lives curled up in bed asleep. When we sleep we breathe more deeply, taking the surrounding air (and whatever it contains) into our bodies. Why should that concern us?
A study published in the Journal of Exposure Analysis and Environmental Epidemiology showed that the dust in our homes contains lead, pesticides and a multitude of toxic chemicals. Another study by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) found indoor VOC concentration is 2 to 5 times greater than that outdoors.
As the materials that fill your home age the carpet, paint and furnishings gradually release chemicals into the air. This is called off-gassing. Byfurnishing our bedrooms with organic, chemical-free products and components we drastically reduce our exposure to these harmful substances.
Organic components do more than reduce the risks associated with chemically laden, synthetic materials – they possess natural health and comfort advantages that nurture you and invite deep, restorative sleep.
Natural and organic latex is antimicrobial and hypoallergenic – up to 300% more resistant to allergen-causing dust-mite than any other foam. Organic wool also naturally repels dust-mites and other allergens, but it does so by eliminating the moisture they need to thrive. When your bed is dry, cool and allergen free you reduce sleep disturbance caused by temperature discomfort, eliminate late night sniffles and invite deep, replenishing sleep.

In an industry where everyone else focuses on cost, Hästens keeps its focus on quality. The vision of giving the world the best bed allows for no shortcuts. In more than 150 years Hästens has hand crafted beds using nothing but all natural filling materials.
In the late 1980’s the present owner, Jan Ryde took over the reigns at Hästens and thus became the fifth generation to run the privately owned family company. Since then sales of these chequered first quality beds have risen by more than 30,000 percent. Jan Rydes aim is that Hästens should provide as much benefit for the user as possible. A good night’s sleep gives a better day and in the long-run a better life.

Hästens, which was founded in 1852, is Sweden’s oldest manufacturer of beds and started out by primarily making saddles and carriage furniture. The main filling material used for saddles was horsehair and already back then it was common knowledge that horsehair also provided the best possible filling material for mattresses. To begin with the saddle makers at Hästens only manufactured beds on demand. This demand increased at such rate that making beds with time became the main business for the company. The Hästens brand name (‘Häst’ is Swedish for horse) and logo are references to its origin as a saddle making company.

Craftsmanship and quality are two keywords at Hästens where beds are still made by hand using only natural filling material. Hästens is exclusive among bed manufacturers by having all of their beds awarded the Swedish Svan environmental certification, as well as attaining the standards set by Öko-Tex and Möbelfakta for home and public environment. Hästens beds are appreciated by many from palace to cottage, since 1952 Hästens has had the honour of being the supplier of beds to His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden.

Hästens is currently established in 25 markets and continues to expand organically in existing markets as well as initiating sales in new markets. The part of the business which is represented by exports is steadily rising, from just 4 percent in 1994 to 71 percent in 2005. In April of 2006 Hästens was awarded the ‘Grand Export Prize’ by His Majesty the King of Sweden in recognition of its successes.
